A little snapshot of our history…
In May of 2000, with Seattle riding the dotcom wave to unprecedented economic highs, restaurant guru Paul Mackay, armed with know-how and gumption, envisioned a yang to the yin of his famous El Gaucho steak house, and in a gutsy move opened the gleaming seafood restaurant Waterfront Pier 70. It exploded onto the Seattle scene: “Dining on the Waterfront will never be the same” trumpeted Seattle Magazine. It was hot, hip and happenin’. Then came 9/11 and the economic implosion that followed.
In 2002 the name became Waterfront Seafood Grill and the culture became love. With this new spirit the restaurant began a meteoric ascent, adding a million dollars in sales each year from 2004 through 2008, finally claiming top sales for all Mackay Restaurants in 2008 and 2009. Waterfront also garnered the Washington Wine Commission’s Restaurant of the Year in 2007. The simple axiom, “We love you here”, tells the restaurant’s story as clearly as any review.

Congratulations to our Executive Chef, Peter Levine, for being one of the three Seattle area Chefs selected to greet the Alaska Airlines flight carrying the first shipment of Copper River salmon! Chef Levine was also featured on KOMO 4 “Tarmac to Table” and KCPQ 13 “Plane to Plate”.
